Alex Gernandt is one of the most renowned music journalists in the country. He works in print, online and TV, was a fanzine publisher, reporter and BRAVO editor-in-chief. He became known to a wider public as a music expert on television.
Since his early youth, Alex Gernandt has been a passionate fan of loud music - from rock'n'roll to classic rock and hard rock to heavy metal. While still a schoolboy in the early 1980s, he and his friends founded the underground metal fanzine "Shock Power" which he distributed as far as the USA and in which he first featured the then unknown US newcomers Metallica . After working for rock magazines such as Rock Power, Crash and Metal Hammer, he moved to BRAVO , his "childhood love". He travelled around the world as a reporter for Europe's largest youth magazine for years and was editor-in-chief of BRAVO until 2013 .
Today Alex Gernandt works as a freelance author for Der Spiegel , Classic Rock , Good Times and RIZE and in front of the camera as a music expert for major TV documentaries and magazines. To date he has conducted over 1,000 interviews with personalities such as Paul McCartney , Tina Turner, Cher, Michael Jackson , Mikhail Gorbachev and Robert de Niro as well as legendary rock greats such as Led Zeppelin , The Who , Black Sabbath, Deep Purple , Aerosmith, Queen , AC/DC , KISS, Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Metallica , Guns N'Roses and ZZ Top. As a reporter and interviewer he sees himself as a "mediator" between artist and fan , and he has always retained his "fan heart".
For his first volume of interviews , "We just wanted to make some noise," Gernandt selected the most exciting conversations with the rock heroes and heroines who made music history. The book is enriched with many photos and memorabilia such as autographs , caricatures and self-portraits (for example from Angus Young, Gene Simmons and Billy Gibbons) as well as an original letter from Elvis Presley to BRAVO readers. The book - the title "We just wanted to make some noise" is a quote from Jimmy Page - invites you on a wild adventure trip through eight decades of rock history, authentically told by all the protagonists who experienced and helped shape it. LET THERE BE ROCK... LET THERE BE "NOISE"!
