"I like to discover the people and the biography behind good music"

Martin Knoch was born in Karlsruhe in 1971. He is a passionate musician and "numbers man". He studied business mathematics, worked as an investment banker in the City of Frankfurt and is now a full-time IT consultant and part-time musician, songwriter, producer and author.

Martin Knoch picked up the guitar at the age of eleven, was apprenticed to the folk pickers of the 70s, took over his guitar teacher's job at the local youth center at fifteen and soon switched to electric guitar.
His first encounters with the blues were at concerts by Eric Burdon and Rory Gallagher in the mid-80s. After musical excursions into all styles from heavy metal to free jazz, his music today is once again grounded in the blues.

The multi-instrumentalist writes and produces for himself and other performers and was a GEMA scholarship holder of the "Celler Schule" for German-language lyricists in 2021. In 2019, the author founded the Baden dialect blues duo "Knoch'n'Wacker - Die Badische Blues Verschwörung". Their song "Schwarzwaldhoch Stroß" made it onto the official Spotify playlist "German Blues" and was heard worldwide. With "Karle mit d Dasch", he came second in the Baden-Württemberg dialect competition "De gnitze Griffel".

The father of three grown-up children has lived with his wife in Berlin since 2023, where he is actively involved in the blues session scene and regularly runs the open stage at Speiches Rock- und Blues Kneipe .

For his book "Blues Made in Germany", Martin Knoch embarked on a journey across Germany in 2024/2025 to hold in-depth conversations with all the great artists who are shaping the current German blues scene.
